Lobby or reception in Angleterre Hotel

The hotel provided us with what we needed, a place to sleep during our six days of exploring the museums and sights of Paris. We got what we expected, it provides you with the basic, it`s clean and has recently been renovated. If you don't have the money to pay from 500 euros+, or even 2000 euros a night, I find that hotels like this make it possible to stay in Paris for a week or so. I always have problems with hotel beds, but here the bed to provided me with a good night`s sleep. I alway use earplugs, but the windows will have to be kept shut, and they are new and well insulated. The breakfast provides you with orange juice, coffee/tea/hot chocolate, croissants/pain au chocolate, baguette with butter and preserves (jam). You won't find a better price for a breakfast solution unless you are going for proteins. I found that the same amount of coffee and with two large cheese and ham-baguettes pluss two pain au chocolate cost around 17 euros at the nearest boulangerie = Breakfast for two people. The room is wonderfully equipped with electrical outlets for charging of phones and your other gadgets. You need to depend on the metro to get to the main sights of Paris. The Metro line 4 takes you directly to the Ile de la Cité or to the Latin Quarter in around 12-15 minutes. The area around Barbès-Rochechouart does not invite for a night life, and you would like to get away from the metro station as soon as you arrive there. The police are very present, but there is only so much they can do. Look out for pickpockets. However, the area is filled with people that aren't troublemakers, so you'd need to be out very late at night to risk any real danger, I think. Otherwise its short walk to the Carrousel de Montmartre and Sacre Coeur with the view over Paris, and Place du Tertre. From here walk the old streets like Rue Lepic and Rue Saint-Rustique.

the staff were all lovely. you do have to leave your key at reception every time you leave the hotel which feels quite uncomfortable, but with how nice the staff are it was quite reassuring. the location was good but the street it was on was a bit dodgy with some of the men who hang around there. make sure not to look at them for ages and you’ll be fine. hotel room and toilet was lovely and definetly a good value for money.

Realy clean room, great housekeeping very friendly ladies! And friendly staff overall. Enough space for a family of 4 with two children under 10. Our room had a big ceiling fan and a installed wall fan in the other room and a fan that u could just plug in. Glad we had those because we were on the top 6th Floor and the room was really really hot. We gave the kids the room with the ceiling fan because it was more effective and helped them sleep better in the heat. The location is nearby the metro station really handy and Montmartre Walking distance. The area has enough stores for Some shopping and food. After A certain time the neighborhood vibes changes alot so u dont really want to be outside the area.

The staff is friendly and always smiling. They offer good value for money, breakfast is straightforward but worth it if you need to leave early and eat fast. The hotel in general is really simple but works really well, everything was clean.

The staff were so kind to us and our kids. They always had candy for the kids every time we came to the lobby and were very patient. The beds were comfy, and I loved the fleece blankets. The bathroom was very clean, as was the rest of the room. It was super close to at least three metro stations so traveling to sightsee was very convenient.

Facade/entrance in Angleterre Hotel

This is our second stay at the hotel, we took a family room last year and a double room this. The hotel itself is a nicely presented hotel and is great for moving around Paris. The neighbourhood isn’t the best however I think the immediate surrounding area looks a bit worse than it is. The corner by the tube seems to be populated by undesirables which can be intimidating - we generally used Anvers Metro rather than Barbes Rochouchuart for this reason. On arrival we were swiftly checked in (note the tourist tax is payable on a per person per night basis - €4 pppn tho I don’t see info online to support this actual price). Reception is manned 24h which is good from a safety perspective - keys are left behind reception when leaving the hotel, whilst some people see this as a concern, I feel that the concerns are unwarranted - for me the hotel staff are more than trustworthy. We were on the 3rd floor accessible by stairs or small lift. Room was clean, enough room for the two of us and had a modernised bathroom, tv and safe. The staff were extremely friendly (have been on both occasions). I was over for the marathon and the guys went above and beyond with a couple of ad hoc requests I made, these were all done with a smile. Beds are a touch on the hard side but still had a decent a nights sleep, can be a little noisy until 2am then it quietens right down. Stayed here before, absolutely would stay here again when visiting Paris. It’s a budget hotel that does exactly what you need if you’re more interested in having an enjoyable short trip to Paris.

The property was in an excellent location to access transport to all of Paris. The room was functional and clean and shower was excellent as was the fan as it was very hot. It was quiet at night as I can be disturbed and I slept well. The man on reception in the day was helpful and the young student on some of the nights absolutely lovely and helpful. Good TV in room but would be better if a smart tv you can link to your phone.

I had a great stay at Angleterre Hotel! Conveniently located few steps away from Barbès - Rochechouart metro station (also 15min walk from Gare Du Nord) and also a short walk away from Sacré-Cœur. Good size room, mine even had a little balcony and good toilet/shower (hot and powerful enough). Staff was very friendly and helpful, they replaced towels and did the bed every day which was great. A lot of cafe, restaurants, shops in close proximity. People think the area is sketchy but if you mind your business you won't have any problems also it's always full of people around so you don't really feel isolated. Great price and great stay - I would definitely come back!

This is a well-rated 1-star hotel. Meaning: it is a clean, comfortable, no-frills hotel. We had a room on the top floor with 2 large windows and a private bathroom. Everything was modern and in good, clean condition. The beds were comfortable. There is an elevator, which was vital for us. Our family room was large and had 2 ceiling fans. The metro stop is half a block away, so super convenient. The area is "colorful." We didn't feel unsafe, but it was a bit gritty. My 87-year old mother was counting the drug deals ("selling cigarettes") going on in front of the Metro station, so that's saying something. The hotel was able to store our luggage for us before check-in for 14E, but it had to be left in a lobby/breakfast room area where anyone could access it. With the windows open, we clearly heard the metro going by just past the building across the street.
